Actorfest started as a small tradeshow for the acting community that was produced by Back Stage Magazine who wanted to grow the events. The events took place in NYC and LA. NYC had about 700 attendees, and LA had about 400 attendees. The goal was to attract a greater audience, get more exhibitors, and provide the performing arts community with an experience that they could only get through Back Stage.

Purpalo became an integral part of the management team and oversaw the entire event. New event plans were created and new venues were secured. New components were added to attract larger audiences. We brought in partners such as NBC, Nickelodeon, Telemundo and various casting directors to bring live open call auditions  and casting director meet & drop seeions to the event.  We built the programming and brought in top-notch speakers for the workshop series.

We organized numerous marketing partnerships, built the events social media presence, organized street teams, managed PR , and arranged all other event marketing.

The efforts paid off.  Attandance and revenue doubled, and kept growing...  We grew attendance to over 10,000 people, significanly increased revenue, and expanded the event into Philadelphia and Detroit.

Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town (PCVST) is an 82 acre property in NYC with 30,000 residents.  It came to Purpalo for help in producing its on-site community events.  The management team was looking to take the events off their plate so they could focus on other business areas.

Purpalo immediately took ownership of its community events.  We took over the strategy, vendor management, partnerships, operations and logistics, and worked with internal departments including security, maintenance, and recreation teams.

Purpalo has been extremely successful in running the PCVST events, bringing in new ideas, streamlining operations, negotiating contracts, and being on-budget.  Management is extremely happy that it no longer has to worry about its community events as it knows that Purpalo has it covered.

We worked with Grow NYC to manage an on-site weekly Greenmarket and incorporated a kids learning and craft area as well as live music and fitness classes.

When we arranged the Summer Concert Series we brought in bands such as Better than Ezra, and Ed Kowalczyk former lead singer of the band Live for a fantastic performace.

We had a blast at the Summer Carnival with rides, inflatables, magic show, puppet show, and more!

We had a spooktacular time at the Halloween Fair where we built a haunted house, brought in a pumpkin patch, had face painting, a monster mash band, scary magic show, inflatables and food trucks!

For the Christrmas Tree Lighting, we had a visit from Santa, carolers singing, story time and photos with Santa, hot cider and sweet treats, and brought in a 25 foot lighted tree.  In addition, Purpalo arranged for the build  of Santa's stage and background, coordinated the properties holiday decorations, and had a enormous fireplace built for residents to have a holiday photo opportunity.

The Menorah Lighting was a festial of lights.  Residents enjoyed a Hanukkah music show, learned how to play the dreidel game, ate donuts, and said the blessings of Hanukkah to light the Menorah.  ,

The Friendship Ambassadors Foundation envisioned the first-ever choral festival bringing performance groups from around the world to NYC in a historic week long event in the celebration of the signing of the UN charter and in celebration of World Peace.

Purpalo came into the equation to help the team manage operations for the festival which consisted of 10 concert performances around the city including one at the United Nations - General Assembly Hall, and one at Lincoln Center - Avery Fisher Hall.  In addition, the groups performed at various outdoor NYC locations.

Over 400 performers from around the world came to NYC to participte in the festival and the Purpalo team worked hard to manage the concert operations, arrange marketing and promotional materials, and program the week's activities including sightseeing tours, dining, lodging and a welcome dinner and farewell dinner cruise.

Over 10,000 people attended the festival and choirs from various continents came together in the spirit of sharing their cultures and celebrating unity in diversity through the common language of singing.

The concerts were a huge success and the operations went off without a hitch. Countless lives were changed and memorable stories made for years and years to come -- both for the performers and their families as well as the audiences who took away a message of joy and hope, one of the power of music bridging cultures and understanding among peoples.
